there was a little red hen, called Yar Roos Vian.

One day she found some grains of wheat.

 

Piw a vedn gonis an has ma?

“Who will plant these seeds?” she asked.

 

“Na vadna vy.” I will not”, said Cath

“Na vadna vy.”  said Kei

“Na vadna vy.” said Hos

“Na vadna vy.” said Porhel

 My a wra gonis an has ow hònan, dhana.

“I shall plant the seeds myself, then”, said Yar Roos Vian.


And so she did. 



The rain fell and the sun shone on the wheat.

Yar Roos Vian watched it grow tall and ripen.

 

Piw a vedn trehy an gwaneth?

“Who will cut the wheat?” she asked.

 

“Na vadna vy.” “I will not”, said Cath

“Na vadna vy.”  said Kei

“Na vadna vy.” said Hos

“Na vadna vy.” said Porhel

 

My a wra trehy an gwaneth ow hònan, dhana.

“I shall cut the wheat myself, then” said Yar Roos Vian.


And so she did. 



Yar Roos Vian harvested her crop of wheat.

 

“Piw a vedn degy an gwaneth dhe’n velin?

“Who will carry the wheat to the mill?” she asked.

 

“Na vadna vy.” “I will not”, said Cath

“Na vadna vy.”  said Kei

“Na vadna vy.” said Hos

“Na vadna vy.” said Porhel

My a wra degy an gwaneth ow hònan, dhana.

“I shall carry the wheat myself, then” said Yar Roos Vian.

 

And so she did. 



The miller ground the wheat into flour.

Yar Roos Vian took the flour back to the farm.

 

Piw a vedn pobas bara gen an bleus?

“Who will bake bread with the flour?” she asked.

 

“Na vadna vy.” “I will not”, said Cath

“Na vadna vy.”  said Kei

“Na vadna vy.” said Hos

“Na vadna vy.” said Porhel

 

My a wra pobas an bara ow hònan, dhana.

“I shall bake the bread myself, then” said Yar Roos Vian.

 

And so she did. 



Yar Roos Vian baked a delicious loaf of bread.

 

“Sawrek ew an bara ma.” 

“This bread is tasty,” said Yar Roos Vian.

Piw a vedn debry an bara?

“Who will eat the bread?” she asked.

 

“My a vedn.” “I will”, said Cath

“My a vedn.”  said Kei

“My a vedn.” said Hos

“My a vedn.” said Porhel

 

“Na vedno whei!”

“You will not!” said Yar Roos Vian.

 

“My a wra debry an bara ow hònan.” 

“I shall eat the bread myself.”


And so she did.
