It's time to look at time. Some of the questions we have looked at may need a time frame, e.g.

hedhyw today

hedhyw vettin this morning

de yesterday

de vettin yesterday morning

Fatel ew an gewer hedhyw?

How is the weather today?

Fatel ew an awel hedhyw vettin?

What is the weather like this morning?

But if you want to ask about weather in the past

you can't use "ew" (is), you need to use "o" (was).

Fatel o an gewer de?

How was the weather yesterday?

Fatel o an awel de vettin?

What was the weather like yesterday morning?

Here are the times of the day:

bora dawn

mettin morning

hanter dedh midday

(half day)

dohajedh afternoon

gordhûher evening

nos night

hanter nos midnight

(half night)

If you want to say "in the morning", etc. use "e'n", e.g.

e'n mettin in the morning

e'n nos in the night

So, you could ask:

Fatel o an gewer e'n mettin?

How was the weather in the morning?

And you might answer:

Comolek o hei e'n mettin. It was cloudy in the morning.

If you want to say "at midday", etc. use "dhe", e.g.

dhe hanter dedh at midday

dhe hanter nos at midnight

For times by the clock, you need to start with "en pres",

and use "ar glogh" with your numbers 1 to 12.

en pres whegh ar glogh at six o'clock

en pres eth ar glogh at eight o'clock

Fatel o an awel en pres deg ar glogh?

What was the weather like at ten o'clock?

Tòbm o hei. It was hot.

Complete the following diagrams yourself.

onan ar glogh

dew ar glogh

trei ar glogh

pajar ar glogh

pemp ar glogh

whegh ar glogh

seyth ar glogh

eth ar glogh

naw ar glogh
